Why juice fruit and vegetables when you can just eat them as they are?


There is a very good reason to juice. When you juice fruits and veggies, they are broken down into an easily absorbed form that your body can use quickly. Eating a lot of raw fruit and veg puts a burden on your digestive system. When you remove the fiber and pulp, your digestion doesn’t have to work as hard to get the nutrients from juice as it does from solid food.

You flood your body with mega amounts of natural antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, phytonutrients, and biophotons can go to work right away in your system to renew and heal your body right down at the cellular level.  You might look at it like juice is like pre-digested food.  Juices, spare your organs of digestion a great deal of work.

That is the whole point of the Budwig Juice Therapy.  We want your body to enter a “healing, detox and repair mode” and it cannot do this as long as it has to constantly digest solid foods.

How Much Juice Should I Drink on the Budwig Juice Therapy Program?

How much juice should someone drink on the Budwig juice program?  Drink as much as you need to keep your energy levels normal.  Some will only need 2 or 3 glasses per day, but others may drink 6 or 7 glasses a day.  Dr Schulze had his patients drinking only fruit juice with the soup broth and teas for 2 weeks and then 1 week of vegetable/green juices.  However, you there is no problem in drinking both fruit and vegetable/green juices each day for the entire 3- or 6-week Juice fast if you prefer that approach.  The secret is to be 100% liquids with no fibers in your diet.

Doesn’t the Body Need Fiber?

Yes of course, fiber is very important, and the standard vegetarian Budwig diet has plenty of fiber, however we are only looking at 3 to 6 weeks on a “no fiber” diet so the body can rest, heal and rejuvenate and then we go back on the Budwig food plan.  No need to throw the pulp from juicing in the garbage but instead put it in a bucket and cover it with a little black dirt and then when you have half a bucket full, stir it up and use it as an excellent compost for the lawn or garden.  You can also find recipes on the internet on how to use this pulp to make crackers, breads, pizza crust and so on.

Should I worry about the Sugar Content in Fruit Juice?

Unhealthy refined sugars (white, brown, sugar cane, maple syrup, corn syrup, etc.) all cause an insulin spike which “feeds” cancer.  Fruit is only a problem if it is a part of a high fat (refined vegetable oils, bacon, fatty meats, etc.,) diet. Sugar itself does not feed cancer, insulin does. Countless people have reversed their cancer consuming fruit juices which proves that natural sugars as found in fruit is not a problem in treating cancer. So, during the juice fast, no other foods are permitted.  If you still feel uneasy about consuming a lot of fruit juice, then concentrate more on vegetable/green juices. Greens and vegetables, such as ginger, green bean juice, celery, fresh turmeric root, garlic, green apples, berries, lemon and lime have virtually no sugar. William Patterson University conducted a study that ranked watercress as number 1 for the healthiest food and was shown to trigger cell death of cancerous cells.  During the first 2 weeks of the Budwig Juice Therapy, you will be on a detox program, that can include fruit and vegetable juices. Wheatgrass juice is a wonderful detoxifier and can neutralize carcinogens in the body and aid in the treatment and prevention of cancer.  Add a tablespoon of the Wheatgrass powder if you do not have access to the liquid juice to a smoothie or vegetable/green juice.  Celery juice is not only good for the digestion but has been shown to disable ovarian, pancreatic, prostate, breast, liver and lung cancer cells.

I Am Too Busy to Juice

If you have a serious disease or need to “restore your health” and you are too busy to juice, then your life is “too busy”!  It’s time to turn revaluate your priorities, because once you lose your health, there is not much you can do in life!  Even if we are healthy, we all need to start finding time to juice.  Here are some tips to help you save time.  The Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite or Breville Juice Fountain Cold XL BJE830SIL are centrifugal juicers with wide mouths (no need to cut produce into small pieces) and its super easy to clean so those features save a lot of time.

True the masticating (press) juicer may preserve a few more nutrients but if you find these juicers too time consuming and stop juicing altogether then that would be a great loss to your health.  So, in other words the best juicer is the one you will use every day.  Also you could make juice when you have more time and freeze it in glass (not plastic) jars (be sure to leave room for explanation with it freezes).

Vegetable Juice Recipe

    • 3 carrots, scrubbed well, ends trimmed and tops removed (they have toxic substances in them)
    • 2 celery ribs, with leaves 
    • 1 cucumber, peeled if not organic
    • 1 handful spinach
    • 1 lemon, peeled if not organic
    • 1/2 green apple


Cut produce to fit your juicer’s feed tube. Juice all ingredients and stir.  Pour into a glass and drink as soon as possible.  Serves 1-2
