Dr. Lloyd
Jenkins

A devoted teacher, father, naturopath, and founder whose passion for helping others continues through the work and family he inspired.

The story of the Budwig Center cannot be told without first telling the story of the man who dedicated his life to helping others.

A lifelong passion for health

Lloyd Arthur Jenkins was born on the 15th of August, 1950, near Calgary, Alberta, but spent most of his early years in Manitoba, growing up on a farm.

Very early on in life, he became interested in health after his mother was diagnosed with cancer. From a young age, he studied every book, magazine, and article touching on health that he could get his hands on.

Shortly after leaving home, Lloyd moved to Quebec, learned French, and met his future wife, Linda, in 1972. Lloyd and his family were often seen as the “health nuts.” He continually encouraged his family and friends to make wise health choices and always led by his own example.

Lloyd was also a strong believer. In 1991, he and his family moved to Ecuador to dedicate more time to volunteer work. The healthy climate and altitude of the Andes mountains were among the things that attracted him to the country.

It was in Ecuador, in the late 1990s, that Lloyd learned about the work of Dr. Johanna Budwig and became genuinely interested in her diet and protocol. Shortly after moving to Spain in 1999, he arranged to meet Dr. Budwig at her home near Stuttgart, Germany, in August 2000.

Meeting Dr. Johanna Budwig was a life-changing event both for Lloyd and the rest of his family.

The time Lloyd spent with Dr. Budwig made a strong impression and moved him to share her research with others. Shortly after meeting Dr. Budwig, Lloyd obtained authorization to continue her work and founded a natural health clinic based completely on Dr. Budwig’s original protocol near Malaga, Spain.

Even though he was the only one in his family to meet Dr. Budwig, what he transmitted to his close ones greatly moved them to adopt the Budwig way of living. Eventually, in 2009, his son, Robin, started working with him, and the next year, Lloyd’s daughter, Kathy, joined them. With time, other members of the family started to work with them at the Budwig Center.

Year after year, continuing his research on health, he would incorporate new ideas, therapies, and health recipes, completely based on Dr. Budwig’s research.

The values that shaped his life and work

Lloyd’s goal was to help as many people as possible to make healthy choices and lifestyle changes. He became a father in many ways to many people, both regarding health and other areas of life. He worked tirelessly all his life to give to others and to discover new and better ways to enjoy a healthy life.

His legacy continues through the lives he touched

Sadly, on June 12th, 2026, our dear father and friend, Dr. Lloyd Jenkins, died unexpectedly due to sudden health complications. All those who were close to him knew how active he remained until the very end. Needless to say, his death came as a huge shock to all of us.

Once inspired by Dr. Budwig’s legacy, Lloyd was able to transmit all his love, inspiration, and passion to others not only by his words but also by his example.

Now that he is no longer here with us, we feel the strong motivation to continue Dr. Budwig’s legacy, as well as Lloyd’s own legacy. We are determined to continue helping people make healthy choices and lifestyle changes to live a life worth living.
