This article discusses seven different foods and supplements that can help you prevent and starve cancer.
You’ve heard the saying before, “You Are What You Eat.” True, we hear this all the time. But there is a reason for that – this is a fundamental principle to health and wellness, especially when it comes to beating cancer.
For example, Did you know that some studies show that between 75%-85% of cancers diagnosed are due to unhealthy lifestyle factors? Just think, the primary causes of these diagnoses and may have been prevented with improved dietary changes.
With some simple modifications to our diet, we can take our health into our own hands. Depending on our current health condition, we can either prevent cancer from developing or starve cancer cells and reverse their adverse effects.
[1] Bilberries and Oregano
Dr. Budwig encouraged her cancer patients to enjoy berries regularly. It’s great to add berries to the Budwig Flaxseed oil and cottage cheese or Quark mixture. Bilberries, in particular, contain ursolic acid, and they can disable the usual mechanism of cells to undergo apoptosis (death of the cell).
Oregano also has a generous amount of ursolic acid. So, go ahead and enjoy oregano tea, especially if you suffer from low blood pressure (however, please note, if you suffer from high blood pressure, oregano tea must be avoided). Additionally, regular consumption of ursolic acid has helped treat pancreas, cervix, lung, colon, skin, and breast cancer.
[2] Curcumin
Curcumin has been shown to inhibit the spread of cancer cells in clinical studies. These include breast, uterine, ovarian, kidney, bladder, renal, brain, leukemia, colorectal, liver, pancreatic, lung, and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The Budwig Anti-Cancer protocol includes generous amounts of potent curcumin bio-available supplements.
[3] Green Tea
Green tea contains generous amounts of EGCG (epigallocatechin-3-gallate). It is believed that EGCG suppresses tumor growth associated with several tissues in the body, such as the prostate, bladder, intestines, liver, pancreas, lungs, and oral cavity. It has been discovered that EGCG binds to a protein receptor, 67LR, inhibiting metastasis by preventing angiogenesis responsible for cancer cell migration. Green tea also induces apoptosis supporting the destruction of cancer cells.
[4] Vitamin D3
Dr. Budwig would encourage her cancer patients to spend time out in the sunshine for at least 20 minutes a day for some much-needed Vitamin D intake. According to studies, Vitamin D effectively inhibits tumor growth and development, including its metastasis associated with prostate cancer, colorectal, breast cancer, and melanoma. Some Health Care professionals recommend high doses of Vitamin D3 but remember to take Vitamin K2 and Vitamin D.
[5] Quercetin Foods
Do you enjoy onions, capers, blackberries, raspberries, black and green tea, dark cherries, cocoa powder, kale, apples, and herbs like sage and parsley? They are a natural super antioxidant that stimulates the body’s natural detoxification pathways and exhibits natural anti-cancer properties. This dietary flavonoid shows promising evidence in treating breast cancer, leukemia, lung cancer, neuroblastoma, and colon cancer.
[6] Cauliflower, Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and kale (Sulforaphane)
Sulforaphane found in cauliflower, broccoli, Brussel sprouts, and kale help prevent the spreading of spleen, colon, prostate, stomach, and breast cancers. It also helps reduce inflammation and boosts the body’s natural detoxification pathways to eliminate toxins and support the immune response.
[7] Luteolin
You probably never heard of luteolin; however, every time you enjoy green peppers, chamomile tea, and celery, you are ingesting luteolin. It helps protect the lungs, liver, and heart tissue from inflammation and helps protect against the degenerative effects of cancerous activity.
