Reflexology Podal Therapy

The technique of reflexology consists of stimulating and manipulating points and areas of both feet using one’s hands and fingers to promote relaxation and activate the body’s self-healing mechanisms. Origins of reflexology can be found in an Egyptian doctor’s tomb (Saqqara) and more recent historical examples are found from the mid-1800s onwards using this treatment mainly for pain relief.

Reflexology is based on the belief that our feet reflect a map of our organs. The massage acts on the circulatory and lymphatic system, as well as the distal meridians of the organs, massaged to recuperate a balance in these. It is a gentle, non-invasive therapy performed on the solaes of the feet while the person is lying down comfortably.

This therapy is available at Budwig Center but must be scheduled in. The therapist should be informed as much as possible about the health background of the person receiving the therapy to know if there are any points that should not be treated.

The treatment can last between 30 and 40 minutes
