“The power of Love.”
“Addicted to love.”
“I’d do anything for love.”
These are not just popular song titles but are statements that represent the viewpoints of many. You would no doubt agree that love gives meaning and purpose to our lives and defines who we are and the way we live.
Love is a topic that we discuss with our patients at the Budwig Center. Why? Because the simple truth is: Love is energy!
All forms of energy emanate a particular vibration. The frequency that comes from feeling, showing and even witnessing acts and expressions of love can have a healing impact us. So, a key component to recovering one’s health is to allow the power of love to have a more significant influence in our lives. In fact, positive thoughts and feelings toward ourselves and others have been shown to increase hormones like oxytocin, endorphins, and antioxidants.
Learn to love – Start to Live
“Easier said than done” you may say. Well, you’re right! Loving others can be tricky. For example, the emotional turmoil that comes from holding grudges can be great and long-lasting. Studies show that as much as 85% of physical illnesses have a link to past negative emotional experiences.
We were all born with love but the degree to which we show it is up to us. Think of it like going to the gym. The more you work out, the more muscles you will have. The more you work on being loving, the more love you will show and feel.

Think of an electric power generating station that sends incredible amounts of electricity and energy to power a whole city. Now imagine you are a big generator of LOVE.
- Step 1 – For the next 3 to 5 minutes, think of someone you care for (a grandchild, mate, parent or friend). Now sit still or lie down and close your eyes and mentally send all the love you can to them from your ‘Love Station.’
NOTE: Love is not something you necessarily get; it’s something within us that can be exercised. That is what you are doing now. After 3 minutes of “sending” Love, you should feel warm all over. You can do this when you go to bed at night or first thing in the morning, every day. You will get skilled at this the more you do it.
- Step 2 – After a few days of sending love to those you care about then move on to those you like and appreciate, such as associates, workmates, and so on.
- Step 3 – Send love to people you do not have any particular feelings for.
- Step 4 – Finally, send love to those who have hurt you, disappointed you, or with whom you may be feeling a grudge or resentment.
What’s the point of the exercise?
To feel emotionally healthy and loved we need to remove the toxic effects of hurt feelings from our past and live in a neutral state. We can no longer let grudges and resentment stay stuck in our emotional meridians which can lead to a host of illnesses both physical and emotional.
There’s more happiness in Giving Than Receiving.
The more you generate feelings of love within your inner person the more you will feel the love in your heart and the easier it will be to display it to others, even to those who may have wronged you in the past. Jesus could not have said it better when he stated the fundamental principle: “there is more happiness in giving than receiving.”
Perhaps you were not loved all that much when you were a child, or maybe you haven`t experienced the love you hoped for in your marriage. Well, the reality is: You are in control of your feelings. Exercises like the ‘Love Generator’ can help you experience a closer bond with others to a satisfying degree. It’s like the magnetic field that protects the earth, the source of that field’s energy is from within the earth’s core. Similarly, the more we generate love from within the more it will permeate our lives and the relationships that we have.
So, True or False? All you need is Love? If only that were true, especially when facing a severe health issue. However, we cannot underestimate the power that the frequency of love can have on us. The energy that comes from love is unquestionably one of the most important remedies at our disposal to maintain good health.
